Out-of-State PAC Shills for Crutchfield With False Ads

An out-of-state political action committee released a social media advertisement touting an NRA endorsement for Senate District 34 candidate Kevin Crutchfield; however, the NRA endorsed his opponent, Senator Chris Measmer. The American Conservative Fund PAC is a dark money organization sinking millions into North Carolina races.

“This sloppy work from an out-of-state Political Action Committee (PAC) shows they are out of touch with North Carolina politics and should invest some of their millions into better research,” said Senator Measmer’s Communications Director Laura Macklem. “The NRA gave Senator Measmer their full endorsement and the American Conservative Fund should publicly correct this embarrassing error.”

Along with NRA support, Senator Measmer has the full backing of two statewide Second Amendment groups, Grass Roots North Carolina and the National Association for Gun Rights.

The American Conservative Fund also placed a TV ad aligning Senator Measmer with Planned Parenthood because of a $100 donation given to a candidate a decade ago. The two premier pro-life groups in North Carolina, NC Values Coalition and Students for Life Action, have backed Senator Measmer for his pro-life record, including a recent vote to defund Planned Parenthood. Kevin Crutchfield, who recently made the case for not strengthening North Carolina’s pro-life law, has no support from pro-life groups.

Said Macklem, “Senator Chris Measmer earned the backing of pro-life and pro-Second Amendment groups after the two candidates were compared. No amount of shoddy, false advertising by special interests will fool the voters of Cabarrus.”
